JONESBORO – Coma Lee Tippitt, 73, of Jonesboro passed from this life Friday, May 6, 2022. He was born Oct. 15, 1948, in Trumann.
Coma grew up in Clay County and graduated from Corning High School in 1967, where he was an honor graduate.
After high school, Coma served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972 and earned the rank of petty officer third class.
Coma then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Arkansas State University and received academic awards while there. He was also a member of Alpha Kappa Psi while at ASU.
Coma, along with his wife Karen, was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and was involved in every activity with their son Justin. He received the Den Leader Award for completing the Scout Leader Recognition Plan in 1994.
Coma was voted “Best Under The Sun Certified Public Accountant” while employed with Thomas, Speights & Noble Firm. He was currently self-employed.
Coma enjoyed hiking, boating, camping with his family, scuba diving, cheering on the ASU Indians and Arkansas Razorbacks, and taking long walks with his grandpup, Archie.
Coma was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Columbus Tippitt and Pauline Henry Tippitt, along with brothers, Ira Tippitt and Don O’Dell.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Tippitt of Jonesboro; son, Justin Tippitt; daughter, Cassidy (Seth) Bartholomew of Cave Springs; brothers, Richard (Brenda) Tippitt of Piggott and Hubert (Janet) Tippitt of Rector; sisters, Melba (JW) Bilyeu of Warrenton, Mo., and Irene (Dennis) Roofe of Oklahoma City; along with his pride and joy, his granddaughter, Ellen Kay Bartholomew.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 am Monday at Emerson Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 10 am
Cremation has been chosen as the final form of disposition and burial will take place at a later date.
