Larkin Square Announces 10th Season Summer Programming Lineup

Larkinville is determined to make up for lost time, as can be readily seen with its unveiling of its 10th Season Summer Programming Lineup. The 2022 lineup features many of the staple event series that have been embraced by the community, such as Food Truck Tuesday, KeyBank Live at Larkin, the Larkin Square Author Series.

“This season celebrates the 10th anniversary of Larkin Square, ”said Larkin Square Manager Harry Zemsky,“ We ​​could not be happier to celebrate with the return of signature events Food Truck Tuesday and KeyBank Live at Larkin, as well as a few other special events throughout the summer. We look forward to welcoming new and returning guests to Larkin Square for great live music, food and fun. ”

Here’s the rundown for the upcoming season:

Food Truck Tuesday, “Buffalo’s biggest dinner party” returns to Larkin Square on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 from 5 pm – 8 pm. Every Tuesday through August 30th, Larkin Square will welcome dozens of food trucks from the Buffalo and Rochester regions along with live, local music Beverages will be sold onsite, with colorful seating spread around the square; guests are also welcome to bring their own seating. Each truck will offer at least one item certified as a Healthy Option by the Independent Health Foundation. Admission and parking are free thanks to presenting sponsor KeyBank and sponsor Independent Health. Additional food trucks will be parked on Tuesdays at Flying Bison as well. Patrons are welcome to bring food purchased from the food trucks to Magic Bear Beer Cellar and the Hydraulic Hearth Beer Garden for a Larkinville wide celebration on Tuesday nights. KeyBank Live and LarkinLarkin Square’s live music event returns to the square on Wednesdays from 5 pm – 8 pm starting June 8th and running through August 31st (except for Wednesday July 13th when a special ticketed concert will be held). Each week features a signature local band along with food, drinks and a rotation of artisan vendors.

Featured food each week will be Chef Darian Bryan’s Jerk Hut along with rotating food truck. Cans of beer, wine and cocktails will be available for purchase. See below for the complete band line up.

The Larkin Square Author Series returns on Tuesday, May 31st at 5:30 pm with a talk by best-selling author Ann Hood speaking about her new memoir Fly Girl. Buffalo native and best-selling author, Lauren Belfer will be speaking on Thursday, June 23rd at 5:30 pm on her new novel Ashford Hall. Books for purchase and an author signing will be available at both events courtesy of Talking Leaves Books.

  • Free Fitness in the Parks on Mondays at 6 pm (Cardio Kickboxing) and Saturdays at 11:30 am (ZUMBA) starting June 5th, courtesy of the Independent Health Foundation and the YMCA.
  • Free Family Fun Days with programming for kids K-8 (all ages welcome) on Saturday, May 14th and Saturday, July 16th from 10 am – 2 pm.
  • The Queen City Traveling Market, Saturdays May 21st and September 24th from 10 am – 2 pm.
  • Chef Darian’s Jamaican Market featuring Jamaican inspired food, culture and music on Saturday, August 6th from 11 am – 3 pm

Bring the kids in your life to Larkin Square on Saturday, May 14th from 10 AM – 2 PM for a day of free family fun. The event is being programmed by the Valley Community Association. Drop by to participate in any of the activities anytime during the event. The focus is on kids grades K – 8, but all ages, including younger ones, are welcome with their parents or caregivers.
Organizations offerings activities include CEPA Gallery (photography), Shea’s Performing Arts Center (theater), LA Movement (ZUMBA), Buffalo Science Museum (science) and Benjamin Berry’s Circus (juggling and other circus fun).
Also at the event will be a market with artisan items made and sold by local students through The Foundry
Food will be available for purchase from Cheesy Chick Food Truck and an Ice Cream truck too!

The Queen City Traveling Market Returns to Larkin Square on May 21st and September 24th, 2022 from 10 AM – 2 PM. This is the second year of the Market being held in Larkin Square. The Market features dozens of local vendors offering food and artisan goods for purchase. The Market is free thanks to KeyBank and Independent Health.

Free Fitness in the Parks returns to Larkin Square June 4th with ZUMBA on Saturdays at 10:30 AM. and Cardio-Kickboxing on Mondays at 6 PM. This fun free fitness program is courtesy of Independent Health and the YMCA Buffalo Niagara.
