The BBC has announced its full programming schedule for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend. From TV to radio, the momentous milestone will be marked with content from across the UK.
TV presenter Kirsty Young has been confirmed as the presenter for the Platinum Jubilee coverage over the four-day weekend, after stepping back from the program in August 2018 due to health complications. Meanwhile, Clive Myrie, Mary Berry, Huw Edwards and Clare Balding will also front special programs.
“The BBC is marking The Queen’s momentous Platinum Jubilee in spectacular style with an unprecedented range of special programming,” BBC Chief Content Officer, Charlotte Moore, says.
“In celebration of Her Majesty’s seventy years of service the BBC will bring the people of the UK together with something for everyone to commemorate this historic anniversary culminating on the extended bank holiday weekend.”
Highlights include The Crown Jewels documentary presented by Clive Myrie, and The Queens Jubilee Pudding: 70 Years in the Baking with Mary Berry, and the Platinum Party At The Palace – live from Buckingham Palace. If you aren’t able to attend the events in person, the BBC is making it accessible for everyone to join in from the comfort of their own home.
Kirsty Young adds: “I’m delighted to be back on the BBC for such an historic, unique, and happy event. It’s going to be quite a weekend and our coverage will bring viewers everywhere a front row seat at the celebrations. I can ‘t wait! “
